SUPER EASY Mountain Bike Ride at LaPine State Park
June 16, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am
Organizer: Laury Riley
This ride will be limited to 6 riders, myself included. HOWEVER, I am doing it twice on the same day, so look for the 2nd posting if you don’t get on the list for this one! I will do a second ride beginning at 11am. The temps are supposed to be a bit cool so we should be okay.
This ride is for people who are not familiar with LaPine State Park and want to ride slowly and cautiously. Please do not sign up if you are a stronger, more knowledgeable rider.
We will ride only 2 of the loops: Deschutes and Fall River. The route is mostly flat with nice river views and a few rocks. The total distance is about 8 miles. We will regroup occasionally. It is a beautiful, easy ride!
I am not including the RWGPS info as this route is confusing. However, I will forward a Cue Sheet to those who sign up, if you give me your email address. The Cue Sheet also has directions to the starting point.
Allow an hour to drive to the starting point and get yourself and your bike ready to ride. There is a toilet in the park but not at the starting point. Stop and use it before arriving, if you want. (There is a chance it could be locked so use a bush instead.) Again, this info is on the Cue Sheet which will be sent to you when you sign up.
We will meet promptly at 9:30am at the MacGregor Viewpoint for a brief meeting. It is strongly encouraged that we wear masks at this meeting, and please don’t park closely together. Also please keep 6 feet of distance between others whenever we are stopped.
Helmets are required. It’s a good idea to wear bright colors and bring a whistle in case of any problems. We tend to get spread out on the trail. Bring plenty of water and a snack, just in case. Wear layers appropriate for the weather.
You MUST sign up to go on this ride. After you press ATTEND, be sure to fill out the “Complete your RSVP” form with the information required, then press the arrow button to submit. Please RSVP and/or cancel in a timely manner.
Rain before or during the ride will mean a cancellation. Check Meetup by 7:30 am that morning for any updates.
*****Bella rides are “no-drop” rides and no one will be left behind. In consideration of others, we ask that you choose a ride that is close to your skill level based on the description given of the ride.
If you choose to leave the group by going significantly faster, or taking a different route, you have an obligation to let the leader know. When you leave the group, you are on your own.
No guests are allowed on this ride. You must be a current paid member of the Bellas to attend.
