Sherman’s March (The Short) – gravel ride (Adv Beg)
October 19, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm

This is a gravel ride from the folks at Dirty Freehub that is in the Camp Sherman area. There should be a lot of great scenery with the Metolius river, a couple of creeks, larch trees and other fall foliage.
This is the shortest version of the Sherman’s March route at 24 miles and around 1100′ of elevation gain. It is about 50% paved, 30% gravel and 20% easy single track.
We will be riding at a conversational pace and taking in the scenery but also try to complete the ride in around 3 hours.
You can view and download the route here:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/34438977
You can read the full route description at https://dirtyfreehub.com/adventure/oregon-x/shermans/ but keep in mind we are only doing a portion of the route.
This ride is suitable for gravel bikes or hybrids. There is a section of single track (Lake Creek Trail) that does not allow e-bikes but there could be an alternate route for this section if someone is interested. Since much of the ride is on paved roads, it is a good idea to have a red flashing light on your bike.
We will meet at the Lake Creek trailhead. Make sure that check your driving time and route to be ready to roll at 11:00am. There are no bathroom facilities at the trailhead.
Michele’s phone number is 541-788-4445 if you have questions.
You MUST sign up to go on this ride. After you press ATTEND, be sure to fill out the “Complete Your RSVP” form with your cell number and Emergency Contact info, then press SUBMIT. If needed, please cancel in a timely manner so that someone else can take your spot.
