Picnic Ride: Multi-Surface Ride around Bend
June 22, 2022 @ 2:15 am - 4:15 am

This is a fun ride mostly on little-known trails around the town of Bend. Most of the trails are paved, but some are gravel, so you should bring a gravel, hybrid, or mountain bike. An e-bike would also be okay.
NOTE #1: A mountain bike would be a lot of work due to the distance, so you should be a fairly strong rider if you bring a mountain bike.
NOTE #2: You should be comfortable riding with a bit of car traffic at times. There are some busy intersections that we need to navigate, such as the roundabout at Reed Market and 15th, also Olney and 3rd St. Wear bright colors and have a flashing light on the front and rear of your bike.
Safety will be of the upmost importance and we will ride accordingly. Helmets are required.
The group size will be limited to 12. A sweep person will be designated before we begin the ride.
The ride is 16 miles long and will take about 2 hours. We will ride at a leisurely pace of 9-10 mph and regroup as needed. The route is mostly flat, with a couple of small hills.
Here is the RWGPS info for the route (gravel segments in red/white stripe): https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39716416
NOTE: The route may be modified due to construction, traffic, weather, or other issues that day.
We will depart from Discovery Park at 9:15am, so arrive about 15 minutes early to get ready. Look for Laury on the sidewalk in front of the pavilion; she will wear a bright yellow jacket or vest.
You must RSVP for this ride and be a current paid member of the Bellas. You do NOT need to attend the picnic to do this ride.
After you press ATTEND, fill out the “Complete your RSVP” form with your cell number, plus your emergency name and number.
Bella rides are “no-drop” rides and no one will be left behind. If you leave the group, you must let the leader know, and then you are on your own.
