Introduction to Basic Mountain Biking Skills

February 18 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Join Susan Keys for a basic mountain bike skill refresher (or maybe a first lesson??). I have ridden for 8 years with a professional mountain bike coach and would like to share some things I have learned. I am not an expert, I am quite happy to put a foot down when the going gets rough. But I’ve learned some basic skills along the way that I’d like to share. This outing will focus on practicing basic skills. Expect to stop a lot! This ride is not about miles or pace. We should expect to be out about 90 minutes or so. We will ride the inner loop at Maston. This ride is for you if you are a beginner (but not first time mountain biker) or someone who rides but has never had skill instruction and would like to ride with more confidence. If first time mountain bikers are interested I will be happy to repeat the session at another time for first timers. If you are comfortable riding most of what Maston has to offer, this ride is not for you. If you have ridden Maston but find you put a foot down more than you would like on easier rock beds, etc. you might find this session helpful.

Please arrive ready-to-ride by 11 AM. This group is limited to 4 participants + Susan to allow for individual practice and coaching.

Bella rides are ‘no-drop’ rides and we are committed to helping one another improve our riding skills. In consideration of other riders, however, we do ask that you choose an ability level that is close to your skills. No one will get left behind unless they choose to cut a ride short, want to go faster than the group or take a different route. All riders have an obligation to the ride coordinator to let her know if they are leaving the ride. Remember that when you leave the group, you are on your own.

******Be sure to bring your signed waiver if you have not done so already. This ride is only open to Bella members.

You can download the waiver here.
