Gravel Ride on Modified Sherman’s March Route

September 14 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

This ride is for Advanced Beginners. We will ride at a leisurely pace, and regroup at any forks in the route.
This ride can be done on a mountain bike, a gravel/hybrid bike, or an ebike. A proper road bike would not be appropriate since there are gravel segments.
We will meet at the store in Camp Sherman at 9:30am. There we will discuss options for the ride. My plan is to leave some cars at the store, and double-up bikes on other cars to drive to the start of the ride at the Lower Bridge (sometimes called Bridge 99). The route I am planning will be 16 miles long and most of the climbing will be at the beginning. This route will end back at the store. Those who wish can ride an extra 8 miles from the store to the Lower Bridge and retrieve their cars there. See the RWGPS info for this route:
Gravel segments are from mile 0-6, and mile 12-16. We are NOT riding in the Metolius Preserve which is closed to ebikes; we are riding on a gravel road instead. Miles 6-12 are on a (rough) paved road. If you choose to ride past mile 16 back to the Lower Bridge, that segment is on a paved road.
This ride will be limited to 10 people, including co-leader Marsha Wolfson and myself.
Bring plenty of water and a snack. Bring your cell phone, ID and your medical insurance card. Please wear a helmet and bring a whistle and a flat-tire repair kit.
Afterwards we will go to lunch if anyone wants.
You must RSVP for this ride. After you press ATTEND, fill out the “Complete your RSVP” with the information asked for.
Rain/smoke cancels the ride. Check Meetup or your cell phone by 8am on the morning of the ride for any updates.
Bella rides are “no-drop” rides and no one will be left behind.
Sorry, I know there is another ride offered on this day, but this is the best day for me to do this ride which I have been wanting to do all summer!
