Easy Rider Road Ride – Twin Bridges – 15-20 miles
June 10, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Organizer: Mary Fajer 503.369.2914 or [email protected]
This ride is a repeat of Laury’s ride on Tuesday. It will be limited to 6 riders, myself included, in order to stay within the Bella guidelines for social distancing. Please don’t park too close together. Masks are strongly encouraged during our pre-ride remarks, and please stay 6 feet apart then and during our rest stops.
This ride is for women who want to ride 15-20 miles at a pace of 10-12 mph. We will stop occasionally for regrouping. Please don’t sign up if you are a stronger, faster rider, or if you cannot ride 15-20 miles at this pace.
Our starting point will be The Bite food truck lot on the main street in Tumalo. To get there: Drive toward Sisters on Hwy 20. About 3 miles outside of Bend, turn RIGHT into the town of Tumalo, and then LEFT onto Cook Ave. Drive 2 blocks and The Bite food truck lot is on the left. Park anywhere on the street or in the parking lot next to food trucks. Sometimes their restroom is open early; otherwise there is a gas station next door if necessary. Please arrive in plenty of time to get yourself and your bike ready to ride.
We will gather promptly at 9:30am for a brief meeting and then roll out on the route. The total distance is 20 miles, and there is an option for less mileage for those who wish. We can discuss this at our pre-ride meeting. There are a few hills on this route, and we will ride for a short distance on the Cline Falls Highway. We will see beautiful mountain views on this iconic Oregon Scenic Bikeway.
Here is the RWGPS info for the ride:
It helps to look at this in advance and print it out if possible. Send it to your phone for voice navigation. Pay attention to the elevation profile to see where the hills are.
You MUST sign up to go on this ride. After you press ATTEND, be sure to fill out the “Complete Your RSVP” form with your cell number and Emergency Contact info, then SUBMIT. Please RSVP by 5pm on Tuesday, June 9. If needed, please cancel in a timely manner so that someone on the Waitlist can take your spot.
Helmets are required. It’s a good idea to wear bright colors and bring a whistle in case of any problems. Bring plenty of water and a snack, just in case. Wear layers appropriate for the weather.
Rain cancels the ride. Check Meetup by 8am on the morning of the ride for any updates.
