Easy Rider ROAD RIDE: Dry Canyon Loop
July 16 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Organizer: Laury Riley, 541-408-4338
This group is for women who want to ride about 20 miles, at a pace of 11-13 mph. We stop occasionally to regroup or point out things of interest.
First meeting point: Cracker Barrel parking lot in Bend, READY to DEPART at 8:40am. For those who don’t know where the start of this ride is, or for those who want to carpool with someone. Look for Laury’s gray Volvo SUV with bike rack.
Second meeting point at the starting point for the ride: At the North entrance to the Dry Canyon in Redmond. Next door to the Water Treatment facility at 3100 NW 19th St. Look for the sign pointing to the Dry Canyon and drive there to park. Meet there, READY to RIDE at 9:30am. There is a porta-potty.
We will ride through the scenic Dry Canyon on a paved road, then on some streets in Redmond, then out into the countryside and back to the starting point. The total distance is about 18 miles, with minimal hills, some traffic, and beautiful views. There is an option for a shorter ride which we can discuss when we begin.
Wear BRIGHT colors and bring a whistle. Also bring plenty of water and sunscreen as this route is mostly in the sun.
Here is the RWGPS info about the route:
Afterwards we will go to a NEW food truck lot called General Duffy’s Waterhole, at 404 SW Forest Ave.
Please RSVP Yes if you plan to attend. Then you will receive any changes or cancellations if necessary.
Bella rides are “no-drop” rides and no one will be left behind. In consideration of others, we do ask that you choose an ability level that is close to your skills. If you choose to leave the group by going significantly faster or taking a different route, you have an obligation to let the leader know. When you leave the group, you are on your own.
Non-Bella members are welcome on their first ride without a membership. They must bring a signed waiver, available here: www.bendbellacyclists.org and click on JOIN. This privilege may only be used once. Riders must become members before attending a second Bella ride.
