DRT to Blackrock Viewpoint – Advanced Beginner MTB Ride
July 28 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Advanced Beginner MTB ride from Slough TH to Blackrock Viewpoint.
We will meet at Slough TH on the Deschutes – Be Ready to roll by 9:30am.
This ride is about 11.5 miles, with 436′ of climbing. Expect an overall average advanced beginner pace of 7 mph. The Deschutes River Trail can be busy so we will watch for hikers and slow/stop as needed. We will ride from the Slough trailhead to the paved Sun Lava path. From there, we take the path briefly before hooking up with the Blackrock Trail. We’ll head up the Blackrock trail (there are a few rock sections that can be walked) and stop at the viewpoint on the lava field. (Note: This ride is not going all the way to Lava Lands.) This is an out and back, so we’ll head back the way we came.

Be sure your bike is in good working order. It may be hot, so bring plenty of water. Even though this is a shorter ride, it will be an advanced beginner pace and there are a few rocks to navigate on the trails. Bring your NW Forest Pass or National Parks Pass for parking. Lunch afterward at Lifty’s or Goodlife depending on our finish time.
Contact Karen Kuter (206) 719-7940 if you have any questions. Kelly O’Neill will be our co-leader on this fun ride.
Cancelation Notice: Rain/Air Quality of 100 or above will cancel this ride. Check meetup by 7:00am on the morning of the ride for any updates.
